The Tenth Cave Cup
Summer Winds
The 2024 Cave Cup Preview
By: Matt Truesdale & Sean Truesdale
After many years of travel throughout these great United States, the Golf Gods are calling us Cavers back to where it all began, amongst the towering sand dunes and forests of Pure Michigan. The Tenth Cave Cup shall be hosted by The Truesdale's Summer Winds Cottages in Ludington, MI during the weekend of September 7, 2024.

This small town on Lake Michigan holds a special place in the hearts of the Truesdale brothers, as we spent most of our childhood summers on the North Bayou of Hamlin Lake in a cabin that our grandfather built in the 1970's. We grew into the game of golf with our family and friends on these courses- the very same places where our father learned the game alongside his dad years before, until his passing in 1989 just one year before Matt was born. Several Cavers played here during our many summers spent in Pure Michigan, and we believe that the golf and vibes experienced here helped define the friendships and competition that ushered the creation of this tournament in subsequent years. For the first-timers, we hope you find these courses to be as fun, challenging, and memorable as we have. We will be heading north at the absolute perfect time of year, and trust that the Golf Gods will shine down upon the Cavers in this tenth playing of The Cup.

We are excited to welcome five first time Cavers as well as several grizzled veterans. Unfortunately, due to a late cancellation from longtime Stumbler and friend of The Cup, Brett Huff, the Red Squad will be going back to the well for their sixteenth player. Your captains will provide an update with the final rosters at a later date.

Friday Morning Scrambles and Saturday Morning Foursomes shall be played at Lincoln Hills Golf Club (AKA 'The Club'):

Friday Afternoon Fourballs, Saturday Afternoon Scrambles, and Sunday Singles shall be played at Hemlock Golf Club:

Friday and Saturday morning sessions shall feature standard eighteen-hole matches. In honor of the man who taught us all about the synergistic effect of a vodka cocktail, Bob Seger cranked, and a pured drive right down the middle, Danny Trues himself, the Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon sessions shall feature nine-hole matches - constituting the auxiliary nine AKA the "AUXIL NINE". These matches shall be scored as stroke-play in an effort to make sure all of the matches play the full nine holes, and shall carry the full weight of one point per match despite the shorter duration. It goes without saying that the Sunday Singles session shall feature standard eighteen-hole matches.
